It might be hard for younger kids to keep their attention without the book, but with listening practice, they will get better at being engaged listeners. We listened to “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” because we had a copy of the book (and fun props).Ĭlick here for a fun craft to go along with The Very Hungry Caterpillar Or if you have a paper copy of the book, they could follow along while they are listening. Then, once your pipe cleaner is in place (being held by weights or hands), glue the ears on top of the construction paper and pipe cleaner.Īllow the glue to dry before removing the weights that are holding down the pipe cleaners. Repeat for the other side of the pipe cleaner. Glue one side of the pipe cleaner to one piece of construction paper and place a cup of water on top of the pipe cleaner to hold it in place (any weight will do, or your child’s hands). Place the construction paper ears facing away from each other. The easiest way for us was to glue the pipe cleaner to the construction paper before gluing the ears over the top. The only tricky part (it isn’t too tricky) is attaching the pipe cleaner between the ears and the construction paper. This will add strength and color to the craft. Hold it against the paper while you cut around the ear, leaving a border of the construction paper. Then, lay one of the ears on top of the card stock. 9/20/2023 0 Comments Tammy love and hip hopAs with the many lackluster and overly literal covers of “Stand by Your Man” that have been recorded over the years, the power of Wynette’s vocals and the emotional intelligence of her interpretations are somehow easier to appreciate in absentia.Īnd what a voice it was: emotionally weighty but swooping and nimble, downright kaleidoscopic in its melancholy. Watching the series, you miss the specific and elusive magic of Wynette’s own voice, making clear how easy it is to take for granted. (“If a girl singer got drunk like you boys do, they would toss her out of Nashville so fast,” she says to Jones, who is eating a raw potato in an attempt to alleviate a hangover.) But “George & Tammy” is most obviously marred by its answer to the classic music biopic conundrum: to lip-sync (and risk looking unserious) or to sing (and inevitably fall short of the source material)?Ĭhastain tackles the songs herself, and though her pipes are decent, her performances never quite transcend honky-tonk bar karaoke. As strong as the lead performances are, the series suffers from small anachronisms and fictitious dramatizations - no, Wynette was not in the studio when Jones finally nailed the vocal take of his heartbreaking late-career weepie “He Stopped Loving Her Today,” at least not physically - and it too often scripts Wynette reciting retrofitted platitudes that overexplain the era’s obvious sexism. 9/20/2023 0 Comments Gothic 1 pick up itemsPlease fill out the CAPTCHA below and then click the button to indicate that you agree to these terms. Something broken? has free troubleshooting information with symptoms for common ice maker problems. 5 At one of our rental properties, we have a GE GSH25JFXN WW Refrigerator. When the freezer is colder, the ice freezes faster and the ice cube tray thermostat reaches its set temperature. Ideally, freezers should be set to between 0 and 5 degrees Fahrenheit (-18 to -15 C). Need ice more quickly? The easiest way to do this is to reduce the freezer’s temperature. When the sweeper arm returns to its starting point, the switch inside the ice maker control turns on the water supply again and the entire cycle repeats until the ice bin is full.Water pressure is an important factor for the ice maker to produce perfect ice cubes and crushed ice. Your Samsung refrigerator water and ice dispenser are not working maybe because of less water pressure. Once the tray is warmed, a small motor in the ice maker control begins to rotate a sweep arm, which pushes the cubes up and out of the tray. To fix this press and hold the child lock button for a few seconds to turn it OFF.When the temperature is reached, the thermostat allows power to flow through an electric heater on the bottom of the tray – this slightly warms the tray so the cubes will release. There is a small thermostat attached to the tray which is sensing the temperature. Its similar to when you are pumping air into a bicycle tube - you can sense a heat increase in the pump while you compress the air. It circulates the refrigerant throughout the system and adds pressure to the warm part of the circuit, and makes the refrigerant hot. The ice cube tray must reach a preset, low temperature. The compressor is the 'heart' of a refrigerator. The water runs through a small tube in the back of the freezer wall and dumps into the ice maker cube tray.A switch inside the ice maker control turns on the water supply, which is an electric water inlet valve on the back of the refrigerator. If your ice maker isn’t making ice fast enough, your freezer might not be cold enough. 9/20/2023 0 Comments Basketball tightsLeague and team sources have told that the NBA, starting next season, intends to ban the tights sported at various points this season by several players, including three MVP candidates: Kobe Bryant, LeBron James and Dwyane Wade.Īlthough NBA officials are not publicly commenting on the issue, sources say that the league simply does not like the look of players wearing visible hose. League would amend uniform code to ban tightsĪfter instituting a "business casual" dress code and cracking down on the length of uniform shorts, the NBA has identified its next fashion crusade. While they are by no means required every time you play, they are a good and helpful piece of gear to consider. You have reached a degraded version of because you're using an unsupported version of Internet Explorer.įor a complete experience, please upgrade or use a supported browser Hopefully, you’re now able to understand the benefits and merits of players wearing tights or compression shorts under their uniforms. If you look good, you feel good and when you feel good, you often play good. Looking good can also help you feel more confident and as you know, confidence is incredibly important during sports. This can help you match or even contrast your uniform colors. Many tights and related compression gear is quite sleek and comes in a variety of colors. Sports, especially basketball, is more fashionable than ever before. Many will wear them simply because they look good. Not every player wear compression gear solely for the health and injury reduction benefits. This can also help keep you cool, help your clothes last longer and more. Many compression garments and tights wick moisture away from your body, as they are so light and often made out of breathable material. While compression gear won’t stop you from sweating, it can help you fight it. Sweating during a game of basketball is quite annoying and doesn’t leave you smelling the freshest. Even if you’re only shooting hoops in your driveway by yourself, you’re bound to sweat a little bit. When you play basketball, sweating is essentially par for the course. Injuries can still happen with compression gear, of course, but it can help reduce your chances of suffering from one. These can be a life saver during hard falls. It’s better to ruin a pair of tights than it is to suffer a nasty burn on your leg.Īlso, some compression tights even come with padding that can protect your hips, knees or other sensitive body parts from damage. It provides a barrier between the court and your skin and can save you from a lot of painful burns and rubs. In addition to keeping everything in the right place, compression gear can also protect you from some impact injuries. This supports your muscles, which can be a very comfortable feeling during a game. They keep all of your muscles exactly where they should be, which can help avoid sprains, strains, pulls and other common ailments. They Can Reduce the Chance of Injury and Protect YouĬompression tights can also be helpful in reducing your injuries. This can also help the effects of stretching last longer. Muscles get cold after standing around or sitting on the bench for long periods, and tights can keep them engaged and ensure you’re always ready for action. Long term effects of increased blood flow even include bettering the body’s ability to fight off certain infections. Increasing blood flow can also help your cells grow healthier and improve the function of your internal organs. Muscles require a sufficient amount of oxygen to perform, so the more oxygen in the blood, the better you’ll likely perform. This is incredibly important for athletes as increasing blood flow can get more oxygen to the muscles. One huge benefit of wearing tights or compression gear is increased blood flow. Note that it’s still using the default gemset. # ruby-2.6.6 - #gemset created gemset list # note that chat_app was added to the gemset list. Let’s view the current list of RVM gemsets: That means each project has a clean isolated container (gemset) for its gems. I now use a separate gemset for separate Ruby and Ruby on Rails projects. The structure loosely represents the diagram above. Take a look at the hidden RVM folder that contains these ruby versions and gemsets on your MacOS system under. It’s also why I got a gem error when running a Ruby on Rails project that my colleagues didn’t get. This is what I DIDN’T do for my projects when I started using RVM. A Ruby version has gemsets that contain gems. The beauty of this is that you can isolate gems for different projects and avoid potential conflicts. GemsetsĪ Ruby version used through RVM can have multiple gemsets. You’re probably thinking, this is going to be a pain to manually switch Ruby versions every time in a new terminal.ĭon’t worry, I’ll show you how RVM can do that for you automatically.īefore we get there though, let’s talk about gemsets. Run rvm list and you’ll see it switches to 2.6.6! You can manually switch the ruby version by typing in: rvm use ruby-2.6.6. RVM is back to using the default ruby-3.0.0. Try to open another terminal window and run rvm list. When RVM downloaded ruby-2.6.6, it set it as the current Ruby for this terminal session. Open it up and add these two lines to it and save. If you’re running a bash terminal, navigate to the folder that has the. On MacOS, you want RVM to load whenever you start your terminal. You’ll get an error: rvm: command not found. Open your terminal and run:Įxit your terminal and enter it again. It would be even better if your machine could switch versions automatically for you. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could install multiple versions of Ruby on your machine and simply switch between them? So what do you do? You uninstall Ruby 1.9 and install 2.3. You’ll see errors if you run the 2.3 project with Ruby 1.9 Later, you download a project that requires Ruby 2.3. The problem is that there are multiple versions of Ruby that various projects use.įor example, let’s say you download and run an open source Ruby project that requires Ruby 1.9. You know that you can directly install Ruby on your MacOS or Linux system. The problem was that I installed gems from different projects into the same environment (gemset).Īlthough Bundler is smart enough to avoid gem conflicts, something still went wrong. I’m writing this post because I ran into a gem error that my colleagues weren’t running into. I use RVM daily and that’s what we’ll discuss. You have different options to choose from: RVM, rbenv, asdf.
